  • “Theo was amazing, he really put the effort to figure out what was the issue with my connectivity, and while doing so he secured that I have temporary card. I am the regional head of CX team in IKEA, and I know when professional support customer experience has been offered. Thank you once again!”

  • “Used it twice this year in Canada - first time when my parents came to Canada for a few weeks - they only needed internet, so it's much cheaper and easier to setup (it was like 3-4 minutes with Apple Pay) than buying something from a local carrier...”

Questions about South America.

Still stuck? Talk to support.

How much does this plan cost?

1 prepaid eSIM plan on this page, from $127.00 USD — a one-off purchase with no contract and no subscription. Options on the same page differ by coverage or by speed, never by validity.

Which networks does a Lumo eSIM use in South America?

By option: 6 countries — Personal · TIM · WOM · Movistar. Coverage is 6 countries — where the data service works, and the operator names are the ones the network reports for each plan.

Is 50 GB enough for 180 days?

That works out at about 284 MB a day. As a guide, light messaging and maps use 1-3 GB, social and browsing 5-10 GB, and streaming or tethering 15 GB or more.

Can I make calls or send SMS?

No. Lumo plans for South America are data-only — they provide mobile internet with no calls, SMS or phone number. Keep your primary SIM active if you need voice and text.

Will my phone work with a Lumo eSIM?

Most phones released from 2018 onwards support eSIM, including iPhone XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and many Samsung Galaxy models. Check Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data) for an eSIM or Add Cellular Plan option, and make sure the phone is carrier-unlocked.

When do the 180 days start?

When the eSIM is activated, which our terms count as the moment the profile is installed and provisioned on your device, or the moment it first connects to a partner network — whichever happens first. Install it close to your trip rather than the day you buy it, and turn on data roaming for the Lumo line once you arrive in South America. That same moment is when the plan stops being refundable, so installing is not a step you can undo.

Can I share this plan over a hotspot?

Yes. Every option on this page is recorded as supporting hotspot and tethering, so a laptop or a second phone can use the connection. Shared traffic comes out of the same allowance.

How quickly can I get connected in South America?

No account or registration is required to buy. Your plan arrives instantly by email and activation takes about 30 seconds. Turn on data roaming for the Lumo line once you arrive in South America to start using mobile internet.

Can I get a refund if I do not use my plan?

Unused eSIMs can be cancelled and refunded in full within seven days, as long as they have not been activated. Once an eSIM has been activated it is no longer refundable.
